World Bank has a wonderful tradition: to organize vendor appreciation party for its freelance translators every year in the New Year eve. This year the event took place for the 6th time on the 20th of December. In the New Arbat World Bank office the house translators and freelancers, who have been actively cooperating with the Bank Translation Unit gathered together in order to exchange congratulations and news and even discuss some translation difficulties with colleagues and get expert advice. This year the celebration was not just that of the New Year. Maya Belysheva, who has spent many years working for the bank Translation Unit decided to change her career and leave her post. Maya’s colleagues said many kind words. As Andrey Salnikov, Maya’s mentor and colleague noted – oil-and-gas translators’ circle is so small that no one would actually say good-bye. TechInput presented Maya a memorable gift – the book of William Shakespeare’s Sonnets translated by Boris Aronshtein, President of the TechInput Group of Companies. The book was issued for the 20th anniversary of TechInput.
The World Bank has been cooperating with TechInput since 2007. The Group unites 189 member countries, staff from more than 170 countries, and offices in over 130 locations, the World Bank Group is a unique global partnership: five institutions working for sustainable solutions that reduce poverty and build shared prosperity in developing countries.
