On September 26, the Marriott Grand Hotel hosted TechInput Group of Companies Business Breakfast for the representatives of oil and gas industry on the topic “Technical translation as an important element of services for the oil and gas industry” dedicated to the 20th anniversary of TechInput.
The leading specialists of TechInput highlighted key problems of the contemporary translation market and traced the closest links of translation industry development beginning from 2014 to the present with the oil and gas industry.
The main objective of the event was above all a dialogue with the Customers and partners as well as complex approach to meet the industry challenge.
Within the framework of the meeting, the following questions were discussed: technological equipment, the ways and mechanisms for optimizing the “price-quality ratio” of industry, enterprise or structural unit in the current difficult macroeconomic conditions.
In the view of the Company management, the most efficient solution is to switch to the so-called platform administration of production and justify the lower price limit per translation unit, i.e. the bottom limit of fair market value of translation services. Translation companies’ potentialities and future of translation industry in general highly depend on the determined cut-off price.
Within the last two years, the Company has been actively developing and introducing the platform administration the main point of which is a small number of highly skilled administrators managing and synchronizing the work of big number of freelance contractors working remotely on the basis of administrative-technological platform in real-time mode. In the era of Internet technologies switching to cross platform administration determines in a great measure the Company’s competitiveness. It allows to speed up and synchronize translation work as well as optimize the “price-quality ratio”
The company also presented its Quality Assurance system consisting of three steps, which allows providing translation of any level strictly in conformity with customers’ quality requirements.
After the presentation a Round Table discussion took place, where three invited translation industry experts discussed the challenges of machine translation, compared advantages and shortages of in-house and outsourced translators, touched upon the question of expensive and cheap translation and shared their ideas related to the present day tender procedures, shortage of professionals, price-dumping of major companies and other challenges of contemporary translation market.
According to the participants’ feedback, such Business-Breakfast may become a future format for discussing the vital problems of translation industry in general. The questions raised require constant work and feedback between the CUSTOMERTS and PARTNERS in the industry.
TechInput is expressing gratitude to all the participants who accepted the invitation and attended the event!
